Scenario Seeds are ideas that I think have alternate history potential, but that I haven't developed into a full-fledged scenario yet. Feel free to enjoy them, develop them, make a bestselling novel out of them if you can.
Scenario Seed #1: In the 1920’s and 1930’s, US defense planners designed contingency plans for fighting a war against Japan and England at the same time. Starting in 1920, can you think of any way such a war could have developed? How would it have gone?
Scenario Seed #2: During the period in the 1920s and early 1930s while Germany was militarily weak due to the disarmament provisions imposed by the victors after World War I, German defense planners feared a Polish preemptive strike to halt any German rearmament or to seize valuable industrial areas. The Germans planned to counter or preempt such an attack by launching a surprise attack on the Polish Corridor, cutting off the Poles from sea borne resupply. How might a German/Polish war in the period 1920 to 1934 have come about and how would it have ended?
Scenario Seed #3: In the immediate aftermath of World War I, the Polish/German border was the subject of a series of disputes, plebiscites, and even a couple of undeclared wars. The areas in dispute were vital to Poland and to some extent Germany. Upper Silesia was a major coal mining and industrial area. Danzig was the only port then in existence that would have given Poland access to the sea, though the Poles created a competing port in the Polish Corridor. The results of the border disputes were a series of compromises that satisfied no one. Poland got two-thirds of Upper Silesia. Danzig became a free city, technically not part of either Poland or Germany. What if the Allies had given Poland everything it wanted in those disputes--all of Upper Silesia with its industry and full control of Danzig? Would interwar Poland have been stronger because of the additional resources or weaker because of the larger German minority? How would that settlement have effected the course of German and Polish interaction between the wars? What impact would it have had on German politics? Would World War II have come anyway? If so, how different would it have been?
